United Airlines expects to offer Polaris seats on 90% of widebody aircraft by YE2020

23 January, 2020

United Airlines EVP and chief commercial officer (CCO) Andrew Nocella reported (22-Jan-2020) the carrier expects approximately 90% of its widebody aircraft to have Polaris seats installed by YE2020 (Seeking Alpha, 22-Jan-2020). The carrier performed analysis which found that "Premium Plus is having minimal impact on demand for Polaris business class seats", he said, noting that Premium Plus is "seeing great results" by being offered on certain frequencies between New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco. The carrier also continued its Premium Plus rollout, which created a 60 basis point tailwind for system PRASM during 4Q2019. The carrier expects business class capacity to grow by approximately 20% across the Atlantic in 1H2020, and plans to open a Polaris Club in Washington Dulles in spring 2020. [more - original PR]
