US DHS, CBP to allow travel for fully vaccinated travellers at land and ferry POEs in Nov-2021

13 October, 2021

US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced (12-Oct-2021) US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will begin allowing fully vaccinated travellers from Mexico and Canada to enter the US at land and ferry ports of entry (POEs) for non-essential reasons in Nov-2021. DHS also announced it will require all inbound foreign national travellers crossing US land or ferry POEs - whether for essential or non-essential reasons - to be fully vaccinated from COVID-19 and provide related proof of vaccination from early Jan-2022. DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas stated: "In alignment with the new international air travel system that will be implemented in November, we will begin allowing travellers from Mexico and Canada who are fully vaccinated for COVID-19 to enter the United States for non-essential purposes... Cross border travel creates significant economic activity in our border communities and benefits our broader economy". [more - original PR]
