Virgin Australia selects gategroup as sole catering provider under long term contract

Virgin Australia announced (15-Feb-2018) a six year relationship with Gate Gourmet, selecting it as its sole catering service provider. Gate Gourmet will provide inflight dining and handling for the carrier's operations across Asia, Australia and North America, covering around 400 domestic and 50 international flights per day. Under the partnership, gategroup will expand its Virgin Australia portfolio by 40%. The relationship will be effective from late Jun-2018, when Gate Gourmet will transition to the full service provider for Virgin Australia. The partnership will create around 100 jobs at gategroup which will be based around Australia. The parties stated this will allow both companies to drive operational and cost benefits while delivering continued improvements to the inflight passenger experience.
