Virgin Australia suspends most New Zealand services to 31-Oct-2021, focus on domestic Australia ops

6 April, 2021

Virgin Australia stated (06-Apr-2021) the carrier suspended the sale of most New Zealand services until 31-Oct-2021, with a limited schedule of services from Queenstown available for booking from 18-Sep-2021. The carrier is working with Air New Zealand to provide impacted customers with alternative options and will be contacting them directly. In all cases, options to select new travel dates or obtain a refund to the original form of payment are being made available. Virgin Australia said the New Zealand Government decision to establish quarantine-free travel between Australia and New Zealand provides a boost of confidence, however the airline is "mindful of evolving border requirements which add complexity to our business as we push ahead with plans to grow our core domestic Australia operations".
