Virgin Australia to apply to IASC for Tokyo Haneda slot allocation

17 September, 2019

Virgin Australia announced (17-Sep-2019) its intention to commence services to Japan with plans to apply to the International Air Services Commission (IASC) for one of the available Australian airline slots into Tokyo Haneda Airport. The decision follows the Japanese Government's intention to open up 50 additional daily slot pairings at Haneda from the end of Mar-2020, which will be split equally between Japanese and foreign carriers. Japan is a strong market for both inbound and outbound travel to Australia, with passenger numbers increasing by almost 50% since 2015. [more - original PR]
