Wizz Air and Volotea being investigated by ENAC over possible passenger rights violations

ENAC reported (03-Aug-2021) it contacted Volotea and Wizz Air, informing them it is conducting an investigation under EU passenger rights regulations, following "frequent episodes" of flight cancellations, overbooking and long delays resulting in "considerable inconvenience" passengers. The aviation regulator stated that if its investigation confirms violations of passenger right regulations, it will apply "maximum sanctions". ENAC stated it is also investigating the carriers concerning the availability of aircraft and crew, examining a "possible need" for downsizing or limiting services to reduce cases of overbooking and cancellations.
