Wizz Air to double capacity in Ukraine following Ukraine-EU air transport agreement

Wizz Air announced (13-Oct-2021) plans to expand operations in Ukraine with a doubling of capacity, according to Kyiv Igor Sikorsky International Airport. The airline will expand its based fleet from three to eight aircraft at Sikorsky Airport and from one to three aircraft at Lviv Danylo Halytskyi International Airport. The carrier will add 26 new routes from Kharkiv, Kyiv, Lviv and Odessa. The airline will offer 117 routes to 22 countries using 11 aircraft, making Wizz Air the largest carrier by direct departing seat capacity from Ukraine. The airline's decision follows the signing of a comprehensive air transport agreement between Ukraine and the EU on 12-Oct-2021. New Wizz Air routes include the following:

  • From Kharkiv: Pardubice and Thessaloniki;
  • From Kyiv Sikorsky: Alicante, Barcelona El Prat, Basel/Mulhouse/Freiburg, Brussels Charleroi, Chania, Eindhoven, Madrid, Malaga, Nice, Palma de Mallorca, Paris Beauvais and Porto;
  • From Lviv: Athens, Barcelona El Prat, Brussels Charleroi, Eindhoven, Madrid, Nice, Paris Beauvais, Thessaloniki and Venice Treviso;
  • From Odessa: Athens, London Luton and Pardubice;
  • The airline will also increase frequency on 25 existing routes from Ukraine. [more - original PR]
