Bitcoin Watch – Treasury increases plan to combat illegal crypto activities

25 August, 2019

U.S. Treasury Department has announced plans to increase its focus on illegal cryptocurrency-related activities. Late last week, the Treasury tweeted its financial intelligence and enforcement agencies are collecting and analysing Bitcoin addresses including those that are associated with several "Chinese kingpins" allegedly involved in "fuelling America's deadly opioid crisis." The use of Bitcoin for illegal activities has often been debated and is one of the reasons cryptocurrencies face issues of truly becoming mainstream.
