DATA SPOTLIGHT: Buenos Aires Aeroparque Jorge Newbery

26 February, 2020

This year The Blue Swan Daily will feature some of the leading airlines, airports and country markets for air travel. Here, using the extensive profile insights available to CAPA - Centre for Aviation members, we deliver a data snapshot on Buenos Aires Aeroparque Jorge Newbery, where Argentina's air regulator has opened the door to enhanced international air connectivity.

The downtown airport is the main domestic gateway into Argentina's capital city and operations have been restricted to internal flights, with the exception of services to neighbouring Uruguay. Now, with effect from 11-May-2020 the airport will once again be permitted to handle flights to and from regional destinations such as Brazil, Paraguay, Chile, Bolivia, and Peru with aircraft seating up to 200 passengers.

Argentina's civil aviation authority, ANAC, believes the measure will boost Latin American arrivals into Buenos Aires, while easing the border control pressures at Ezeiza International Airport, the main international gateway to the city.
