IHG to bring first Vignette Collection hotel to Asia with Bangkok property

12 January, 2022

IHG Hotels & Resorts and Siam Sindhorn Co have confirmed plans for the first Vignette Collection hotel to open in Asia within the bustling city of Bangkok. The Sindhorn Midtown will join IHG's newest Luxury & Lifestyle collection brand in Mar-2022, two years since it first opened in Thailand's capital city.

This will be the second luxury and lifestyle brand that IHG and Siam Sindhorn will debut to South East Asia and Thailand. It follows a successful first partnership with the opening of Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok in 2020, that launched IHG's global boutique brand into South East Asia. Both hotels are situated within Sindhorn Village, a development project that spans 42 rai in the area of Langsuan Road and Soi Tonson.

Designed by strategic design firm, Eight Inc, the 393-key Sindhorn Midtown delivers guests with elegance through bold art and a inspired design. Opened in Mar-2020, the hotel blends contemporary interiors with warm hospitality, and innovative technology that keeps guests connected.

"Sindhorn Midtown is a beautiful property offering a one-of-a-kind stay experience, designed with a modern Thai flair with stylish and comfortable rooms and suites. As guests start to travel again, the hotel will deliver a fantastic and authentic experience for both leisure and business travellers," says Serena Lim, vice president, development, SEAK at IHG.

Second Thai property to join Vignette Collection

According to Ms Lim, IHG is seeing increased interest from owners to bring high-quality, independent hotels into the Vignette Collection, where each property's distinctive identity "will be celebrated while enjoying the power of IHG's global scale," she says.

IHG has already signed-up for a second Vignette Collection hotel in Thailand, which will open in Pattaya in "the next few years" and expects to attract more than 100 Vignette Collection hotels globally over the next ten years.

The Pattaya Aquatique hotel is a collaboration with Thailand's integrated lifestyle real estate group, Asset World Corporation Public Company Limited (AWC). Thailand continues to be a strong growth market for IHG, with 29 hotels across eight brands in the country and another 34 properties in the pipeline.

Sindhorn Midtown's sweeping skyline views

Located around forty minutes from Bangkok's main international air gateway, Suvarnabhumi Airport, Sindhorn Midtown sits in the neighbourhood of Langsuan, with easy access to both Sukhumvit and Silom. All rooms and suites contain signature artworks from local artists such as Kachama Perez and offer modern amenities, including Fritz Hansen's iconic Drop chairs.

Already well-known for sweeping skyline views from its rooftop pool, facilities also include three restaurant and bars, one of which is a collaboration with Saneh Jaan, five-time Michelin-star restaurant, a swimming pool, fitness centre and over 170 square metres of meeting space.

Vignette Collection proposes one-of-a-kind stays

Vignette Collection recently became the sixth addition to IHG's brand portfolio in the past four years, taking it to 17 in total across nearly 6,000 hotels in more than 100 countries. IHG Hotels & Resorts' first collection brand is part of the Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio of brands, along with Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas, Regent Hotels & Resorts, InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants and Hotel Indigo.

Whether it's a city haven, sun-kissed resort, or beyond, IHG's Vignette Collection aims to provide a one-of-a-kind stay, with each hotel serving up a distinct service style and character. Owners of independent hotels and small chains are increasingly becoming attracted to the opportunity to benefit from the scale, expertise and investment of a global hotel brand leader. Alongside the significant owner benefits, the Vignette Collection, like similar programmes from the other major hotel groups, will meet the needs of travellers seeking exciting independent stay experiences.
