Our airlines do social media VERY well

14 June, 2017

There is no doubt in anyone’s mind that we are currently living in the age of social media. We are constantly engaging with friends and families from all over the world, and as consumers now interact with businesses on a level that – prior to even a few years ago – would have seemed almost impossible.

Businesses have found social media to be a quick and easy way to get their message to a large interested audience at almost no cost. Regardless of the medium being Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or Snapchat, the opportunities are endless. The travel industry is no exception to this, and we are finding more and more that airlines, hotels and operators are trying to be the first to come up with new and interesting ways of engaging people via social media.

Whether it be new announcements, fare sales or purely branding exercises, airlines have definitely worked out the formula for great social media interaction.

We have delved into the depths of our local airline friends’ feeds and included our favourite most recent posts for your enjoyment, in no particular order.

Fiji Airways

When it comes to social media, Fiji Airways have certainly upped their game lately. Picturesque is a little bit of an understatement with this tweet. Sometimes, less is more.

World Environment Day was last week and Qantas took the opportunity to let the world know it was the largest offsetting airline in the world. We aren’t exactly sure how they got to that conclusion however it makes for a pretty video.

This one had to be included, just look how cute!

Air New Zealand

One of our favourites coming once again from Air New Zealand. A little dig at Qantas in a fun and humorous way. Keep it coming Air New Zealand.

In late May-2017, Jetstar announced their birthday sale, followed promptly by this little beauty from Tigerair.

Virgin Australia

Any photo opportunity with Sir Richard Branson in the country works for us. Helps when there is a great cause to go along with it too.
