US outbound travel enjoys a fifth consecutive year of growth

The US National Travel and Tourism office recently released the US Resident Outbound Travel Data for 2016. Travel reached an all-time high of 80.2 million with five consecutive years of growth following a previous eight-year slump. Mexico remains the largest country for travellers with 31.2 million travellers, more than double any other, followed by Canada with 13.9m. Travel was up by 8% overall, though Australia and New Zealand received a larger growth of 14% and 20% respectively. 2017 is also looking positive for Australia and New Zealand with both countries experiencing growth of 11% and 17% respectively, around 3% lower than 2016.
