Business travel ‘well on its way’ to full recovery in ‘robust resurgence’ for sector

28 June, 2023

An accelerated rebound in passenger travel is propelling global economic growth, according to payment network UATP.

Internal data from the company indicates that business travel is "well on its way to a full recovery," it says, defying some predictions that it would take until at least 2024 for a complete comeback.

Leisure travel has also regained its full strength, showcasing what UATP describes as a "robust resurgence in the sector".

Western OEMs still struggling to raise aircraft output

27 June, 2023

If the next time you board an aircraft, and it appears a little old or tired, you can probably blame COVID-19.

Due to the pandemic's devastating impact on air travel and the subsequent uncertainty about when travel would return, western original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) cut aircraft production dramatically.

From a peak of 1,826 commercial aircraft deliveries globally in 2018 (the year before Boeing's disasters with the 737 MAX), output of airliners fell precipitously, with just 820 aircraft getting to customers in 2020.

FCM Consulting partners with CAPA to provide greater insight on sustainable flights

26 June, 2023

Sustainability continues to rise to the top of the agenda for business. Companies are increasingly eager to enhance their environmental performance and reduce their climate impact, without harming the performance of their business.

However, when it comes to the sustainability of their travel programmes, many companies don't have the information needed to fully calculate their impacts. Nor do they have the tools required to measure or visualise their sustainability performance against targets.

Given that business travel can account for as much as 80% of a company's total carbon dioxide equivalent (C02e) emissions, and air travel can account for 90% or more of business travel emissions, it is essential that companies have a full measure to their air travel emissions.

Business travellers want to travel but majority feel opportunities are being limited

22 June, 2023

The annual SAP Concur Global Business Travel Survey has served as a good touchpoint to assess the realities of the changing business travel landscape and the latest edition, its fifth, highlights ongoing challenges faced by business travellers, travel managers, and their organisations.

Each year's survey has cast a light on how large-scale issues-COVID-19, the Russia-Ukraine war, and inflation, to name a few-can have granular impact on how business is conducted through travel.

The latest survey of 3,850 business travellers in 25 markets, explores some of the most pressing challenges facing business travellers, including remote work and equal opportunity to travel. It also revisits a few key themes from the past to gauge where things now stand, including duty of care and LGBTQ+ traveller experiences.
