ACI Asia-Pacific reports 'cautious sense of optimism' as travel protocols relaxed in 2Q2022

ACI Asia-Pacific, the voice of airport operators in Asia-Pacific and the Middle East, notes that travel recovery in Asia Pacific and the Middle East benefited from "strong pent up demand" in 2Q2022. The easing of travel protocols is what is ultimately driving the recovery of traffic with countries including Australia, Cambodia, India, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand all withdrawing restrictions on international air travel during the period.  

Accor reports solid second quarter; China and South East Asia performance still compromised

Accor has reported the group’s business rebounded significantly in 1H 2022 after two years of major pandemic-related disruptions in the tourism and hospitality industry. In 2Q 2022, activity recovered to levels close to, if not above, the 2019 levels in almost all of its geographies.

Business travel confidence is on the rise as New Zealand travel restrictions ease

Data from the New Zealand travel management provider for SMEs, Corporate Traveller has revealed a steady increase in international bookings as New Zealand travel restrictions ease, with its international air sales now sitting at roughly two-thirds (65%) of the volumes seen before the COVID-19 pandemic.  

Minor Hotels to debut Avani Hotel brand in Australia; expands Anantara offer

Minor Hotels has revealed it will bring its first Avani hotel to the Australian market, with a new-build property planned for Mooloolaba on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. Opening to guests in 2025, Avani Mooloolaba Beach Hotel will enjoy a sought-after central location on the corner of Brisbane Rd and First Avenue, just moments from the Mooloolaba beach foreshore.
