Hong Kong Airlines plans to further increase capacity to Australia in 2018 during peak periods and is hoping to work more closely with tourism authorities to support more flights during off peak months.

AirAsia X Group reports 7th consecutive quarterly profit

AirAsia X today reported its seventh consecutive quarterly profit in 2Q2017. Net profit of MYR47.4 million (USD11.1 million) was a result of foreign exchange gains and deferred tax. Revenue increased 17% year-on-year to MYR1 billion (USD234 million), mainly driven by a 34% increase in passenger numbers, which exceeded 26% growth in capacity.

Qantas Group released its Full Year 2017 financial results today, which included information on its fleet, loyalty programme and outlook for FY2018. Qantas today reported an Underlying Profit Before Tax of AUD1401 million and a Statutory Profit Before Tax of AUD1181 million for the 12 months ended 30-Jun-2017.

WOW air uses Iceland to bridge transatlantic divide for smaller US communities

Icelandic low-fare carrier WOW air is to expand its network in the United States with the introduction of new flights from its Reykjavik hub at Keflavik International Airport to Cincinnati, Cleveland, Detroit and St Louis during the summer 2018 schedule. None of the four destinations announced are currently served from Iceland, albeit Icelandair announced its own plans to serve Cleveland next summer earlier this week.

Once again animals are the leading cause of these issues amounting to 33.2% of the total for the month. RwandAir takes off from Cotonou and expands its west African footprint

RwandAir will commence operations to Conakry (Guinea), Bamako (Mali) and Dakar (Senegal) from its new hub in Cotonou (Benin) from September 30, 2017 as it expands its footprint across west Africa. The growth follows approval from the Government of Benin for seventh freedom rights allowing it to serve this new city pairs without the need to fly via its Kigali International Airport base.
