Google Flights is here but the industry isn't happy

Google announced (13-Jun-2017) the launch of Google Flights search engine in Australia. Google Flights allows users to compare flights and prices for varying destinations and dates, with options to search by carrier, time and class. Google stated Google Flights will identify the best available flight options for users by searching for terms like "Flights to Cairns" or "Flights to New Zealand".

powdair takes a huge jump into Sion for winter sports enthusiasts

Irish virtual airline powdair plans to launch a winter programme of flights into Sion, the capital of the canton of Valais in Switzerland. The airline will inaugurate flights from eight destinations across Belgium, Germany and the UK from the middle of December 2017 using two Embraer E170s or E190s operated on an ACMI basis by an as yet announced carrier. It is ultimately seeking to raise around €5 million to apply for its own Irish Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) and manage its own operations.

SilkAir plans to upgrade its premium product in the Cairns market in 4Q2017 after it takes delivery of its first batch of 737 MAX 8 aircraft. The 737 MAX 8 will offer an improved business class product, 50% more spacious, compared to the 737-800 but the same economy product.

After selecting its Bavarian hub for the deployment of its initial batch of Airbus A350s at the start of this year, German flag carrier Lufthansa has now revealed that it will transfer more than a third of its Airbus A380 fleet to Munich Airport from summer 2018. The move suggests a recent disagreement with Fraport, the operator of its Frankfurt Airport hub, over changes to its development strategy and costing structure, may be influencing its own network strategy.
