Meliá Hotels International has signed an agreement with Guangzhou Aocheng Investment Company Ltd to debut the ME by Meliá brand in Asia-Pacific.
The ME Guangzhou will open its doors in 2027 and will “undoubtedly become the ultimate destination for discerning travellers seeking an extraordinary experience in the vibrant city of Guangzhou,” according to the Spanish hotel group.
The ME by Meliá brand is based around an “exceptional design” and “unparalleled lifestyle offerings” and represents “the epitome of contemporary European culture,” according to Meliá Hotels, with the collection of design hotels inviting guests to “embark on a journey of creative exploration and cultural immersion”.
New property to be found in Guangzhou’s second central business district
Located at Guangzhou Macau Place, within the Guangzhou International Financial City-Huangpu Bay Business Circle – poised to become the second central business district (CBD) of Guangzhou – ME Guangzhou will boast a prime location.
The region is currently experiencing rapid progress with the commencement of the construction of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Express Rail Link next year, which aims to strengthen the connection between key cities in southern China including Guangzhou, Dongguan, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong.
In addition, the forthcoming Yuzhu Tunnel will augment this endeavour by connecting Pazhou Economic Development Zone and Yuzhu Port, contributing to the development of business in the area.
ME Guangzhou will feature 120 rooms and suites as ‘sanctuary of indulgence and refinement’
ME Guangzhou will feature 120 rooms and suites, each meticulously designed to offer “a luxurious haven for guests” with “impeccable personalised services” to ensure that “every aspect of a guest’s stay is tailored to their desires, guaranteeing an unparalleled level of comfort and satisfaction,” says Meliá Hotels. These will be envisioned as “a sanctuary of indulgence and refinement,” it says.
The hotel will offer views of the Pearl River while also being close to Guangzhou’s iconic landmarks, such as the Dan Jia Watery Region and Former Site of Huangpu Military Academy.
By perfectly blending the city’s rich heritage and contemporary charm, ME Guangzhou will become “the definitive address for sophisticated travellers seeking an authentic and unforgettable experience,” says Meliá Hotels.
Boosting Guangzhou International Financial City-Huangpu Bay Business Circle district
This agreement represents a significant step towards elevating the Guangzhou International Financial City-Huangpu Bay Business Circle to a world-class landmark business district, according to He Jinglin, Managing Director of Guangzhou Aocheng Investment Company Ltd.
“The business circle is expected to attract more foreign investments, augment its international commercial and trading functions, and establish itself as an integrated gateway”, he says.
ME by Meliá portfolio has seen rapid expansion
The ME by Meliá has grown and includes properties across a number of cities, including Barcelona, Madrid, Ibiza, Dubai and London, the latter celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.
In addition to the ME Guangzhou, the ME by Meliá brand will open at least three more hotels in 2023 and 2024 in Malaga (Spain), Malta, and Guadalajara (Mexico).
