Avia Solutions Group: 2021 expected to see increase in airline mergers and acquisitions

Avia Solutions Group chairman Gediminas Ziemelis forecast (25-Jan-2021) 2021 may see an increase in mergers and acquisitions of airlines, with small businesses likely to be joining large corporations in 2021 due to the financial stress of the coronavirus pandemic. 2021 “opens great prospects for business development through acquisitions and mergers” said Mr Ziemelis. Mr Ziemelis also forecast that as a result of airline bankruptcies and job cuts, a large number of different aviation professionals will enter the job market in 2021, with many of them will turning to specialised aviation job portals. The “most positive outcome of the year will be massive advances in technology” said Mr Ziemelis, projecting 2021 will be a year in which the aviation industry turns more to IT solutions to optimise processes and better manage costs.
