BITRE: Australian international pax down 96% in Jul-2021, compared to Jul-2019

Australia's Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics (BITRE) reported (22-Sep-2021) the following international traffic highlights for Jul-2021:

  • Passengers: 154,692, -95.9% compared to Jul-2019;
  • Available seats: 759,155, -83.6%;
  • Cargo: 78,996 tonnes, -9.8%;
  • Flights: 4723, -73.6%;
  • Aircraft movements: 4893, -73.3%;
  • Top 5 international carriers:
    • Share of passengers carried:
      • Air New Zealand: 40.8%, +34.4pp compared to Jul-2019;
      • Qantas Airways: 18.1%, +0.8pp;
      • Singapore Airlines: 8.5%, stable;
      • Jetstar: 6.5%, -2.3pp;
      • Qatar Airways: 5.8%, +2.5pp;
    • Share of cargo carried:
      • Singapore Airlines: 14.3%, -1.6pp;
      • Qantas Airways: 8.0%, -4.4pp;
      • Kalitta Air: 7.8%;
      • Emirates: 7.3%, -1.0pp;
      • Cathay Pacific Airways: 7.1%, +0.6pp.

LCC's AirAsia X, Jetstar and Scoot accounted for 7.4% of total international passenger traffic to/from Australia in Jul-2021. The LCCs share in 2019 was 15.4%. [more - original PR]
