Australian Government launches campaign to boost Indian cricket tourism

Australia's Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment Simon Birmingham announced (29-Jul-2019) a tourism campaign to promote Australia and cricket tournaments to cricket fans in India. The AUD5 million (USD3.5 million) campaign is scheduled to be launched in Aug-2019 ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia in 2020 "to generate excitement and support for the events among key trade and accredited travel agents". Mr Birmingham noted the Indian tourism market is worth AUD1.7 billion (USD1.2 billion), with the India Economic Strategy identifying "the need for increased tourism marketing activity in India to ensure the market reaches its full potential".
