EU open sky agreement 'will have difficult consequences for Tunisair': CEO

21 April, 2021

Tunisair CEO Khaled Chelly stated an open sky agreement between Tunisia and the EU could be signed as early as May-2021 (NewsAero.info, 20-Apr-2021). Mr Chelly said the agreement "will have difficult consequences for Tunisair", citing a lack of support sought from European parties and adding "we have tried to delay the open sky since 2014". He noted the five year exclusion of European LCCs from Tunis Carthage Airport will facilitate the recovery of Tunisian carriers, "although the competition will be very tough on Enfidha, Monastir and Djerba".
