23 June, 2021

Finnair and Juneyao Air announced (23-Jun-2021) plans to enter a joint business partnership from 01-Jul-2021. The airlines will cooperate commercially on the Helsinki-Shanghai route and on services to other destinations in China and Europe. Finnair customers will gain improved connectivity to 57 destinations in China via Shanghai Pudong International Airport. Juneyao Air customers will gain improved access to 65 European destinations via Helsinki. The partnership is expected to deliver improved routing options, airfares and frequent flyer benefits to customers. The airlines also aim to deliver more consistent customer policies on baggage allowance, integrated customer care and frequent flyer points accrual. The carriers commenced a codeshare cooperation in Jul-2019, when Juneyao Air launched Shanghai-Helsinki service. Finnair and Juneyao Air operate a combined twice weekly service between Helsinki and Shanghai, down from daily frequency in 2019, and the airlines intend to increase frequency "as soon as the pandemic situation allows".
