Finnair to take part in early trials of solar, electric powered air travel

Finnair CEO Topi Manner reported the airline plans to become involved in early-phase testing of electric and solar powered air transport in the Nordic region, focusing on sector lengths of 1.5 hours or less (Travel.Radio, 08-Feb-2021). He said he hopes that solar and electric powered air travel will be possible "in 20 years or so", adding: "Addressing climate change is the right thing to do. Customers will choose their airline based on its sustainability credentials and we want to be the front-runner".
