24 May, 2021

LendingTree chief credit analyst Matt Schulz cautioned that airlines could devalue some of their loyalty programme miles or points, after liabilities tied to loyalty programmes rose in 2020 due to reduced flying (Simple Flying/Aviation Herald, 20-May-2021). The company, via its ValuePengiun consumer finance site, reported the liabilities of the five most valuable airline loyalty programmes in the US rose 12% year-on-year to almost USD27.5 billion in 2020.
