OAG: Forward bookings for Caribbean travel down around 50% to Jan-2022

15 September, 2021

OAG reported (14-Sep-2021) forward bookings across all Caribbean destinations for Nov-2021 are down by 50% when compared to Nov-2019. Bookings are also 48% down for Dec-2021 and 48% down for Jan-2022. There is significant variation in levels of forward bookings for Caribbean destinations, with markets such as the US Virgin Islands down only 7%, and other destinations such as Antigua and Barbuda, and Jamaica, down around 90%. OAG noted it is difficult to account for the variations, with COVID-19 transmission rates, vaccination levels, destination size, travel restrictions, border controls and destination marketing organisation performance all contributing to the differences.
