Qantas Group announced (29-Nov-2017) flying conditions at Denpasar International Airport are predicted to clear on 30-Nov-2017 for a period of time, and the group is planning to operate some relief flights out of Bali to return passengers to Australia. Jetstar and Qantas have 10 scheduled frequencies and will put on an additional six relief flights, returning 3800 people to Australia. There are more than 4000 customers from previously cancelled flights in Bali who are waiting to return to Australia. Over 1500 of these customers will return to Australian on relief flights. - Jetstar will operate nine scheduled services on 30-Nov-2017. In addition it will operate four relief flights - two Boeing 787 flights to Melbourne and two A320 flights to Perth;
- Qantas will operate its one scheduled service on 30-Nov-2017. In addition it will operate a Boeing 747 flight to Sydney and another Boeing 737-800 flight to Perth. These will bring both Qantas and Jetstar passengers back to Australia.
The carrier noted that volcanic activity and ash cloud are unpredictable and flights may be cancelled at short notice. The carriers will not be taking customers into Bali on 30-Nov-2017, given the likelihood of further volcanic activity and the potential that conditions change and lead to diversions or further cancellations.
