Solomon Airlines to maintain domestic network at reduced capacity

27 October, 2020

Solomon Airlines CEO Brett Gebers said the carrier will be "a much smaller airline for some time to come", but intends to continue operating its full domestic network of 23 destinations at a reduced schedule (Smart Aviation APAC, 27-Oct-2020). Mr Gebers said domestic operations are "running at about 60% of normal capacity", operating with a De Havilland Canada Dash 8-100 and three De Havilland Canada Series 300 Twin Otters. Domestic operations are not enough to sustain the carrier in the long run according to Mr Gebers, but the carrier is extending its local tourism initiative out to 30-Nov-2020 to maintain some revenue and support the local tourism industry, Mr Gebers says.
