Sweden to introduce emissions based take off and landing fees

23 March, 2021

Sweden's Government announced plans to charge aircraft take off and landing fees at specific airports in proportion to their level of emissions (Reuters, 23-Mar-2021). Under the plan, more efficient aircraft - or those using sustainable alternative fuels - would accrue lower fees for both passenger and freight services to and from Stockholm Arlanda Airport and Gothenburg Landvetter Airport. The government stated it would only regulate the system if airports and airlines fail to agree on terms.
