Ryanair and Aer Lingus outlined details of their cooperation agreement, capitalising on Dublin Airport's positioning as a trans Atlantic hub (Irish Independent/Reuters, 05-Mar-2018). Under the agreement, passengers will be able to book each carriers' services via each of the airline's websites. Aer Lingus director of communications Declan Kearney added: "Due to the positioning of Ireland, connecting short haul to short haul wouldn't make much sense. The idea is to connect short haul to long haul. Ryanair fly to places in Eastern Europe where we don't fly". The agreement is expected to take effect later in 2018.
