American Express Global Business Travel (Amex GBT) reported (22-May-2023) the following highlights from its 2022 ESG report:
- Environment:
- Worked towards a formal commitment to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and submitted a target for official validation before the end of 2023;
- Became the first travel management company to join the World Economic Forum (WEF) as a member. Amex GBT became part of the First Movers Coalition and signed the WEF Clean Skies for Tomorrow ambition statement to achieve 10% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) by 2030;
- Launched a pilot enabling clients to create budgets to invest in sustainability initiatives by placing an internal price on carbon emissions;
- Integrated with CHOOOSE to provide travellers with insights into their carbon emissions and support more informed travel decisions;
- Launched a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) pilot programme in Jun-2022, in partnership with Shell Aviation and Accenture via Avelia, initially offering one million gallons of SAF;
- Amex GBT Meeting and Events signed the Net Zero Carbon Events pledge;
- The Amex GBT Global Business Consulting team implemented Green Compass solutions to show clients how to achieve a 30% emission reduction within their travel programmes by 2030;
- Social:
- Mobilised 30 travel counsellors to help Miles4Migrants move 5832 Afghan refugees and 1533 Ukrainian refugees;
- Amex GBT CEO Paul Abbott signed the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion pledge;
- Amex GBT and Egencia teams cooperated to drive technology roles for female candidates;
- The Amex GBT Benelux team signed the Diversity Charter with the Dutch Social and Economic Council, which includes a commitment to increase female representation in senior leadership roles in Benelux to 33% by the end of 2022 and 40% by the end of 2023;
- Governance:
- Maintained the company's "brand mission" and governance framework;
- Maintained a regular, mandated employee training programme in all areas of governance, including code of conduct, information security, sanctions, anti-corruption, antitrust and privacy awareness. [more - original PR]
