Europe's airports register worst traffic performance since 1995

12 February, 2021

ACI Europe stated (12-Feb-2021) European airports registered the lowest passenger traffic performance since 1995 in 2020. European airports had 728 million passengers in 2020, a decrease of 70.4% year-on-year. ACI Europe DG Olivier Jankovec said that "no industry can on its own withstand such a shock", adding that while some member states have taken steps to financially support their airports, only EUR2.2 billion has so far been earmarked for that purpose in Europe, less than 8% of total airport revenue lost in 2020.
