IATA regional vice president for the Americas Peter Cerda issued (21-Jun-2021) the following recommendations for the recovery of Peru's aviation industry:
- Provision of sufficient operating capacity to meet passenger demand at Lima Jorge Chavez International Airport;
- Elimination of requirement for international passengers to wear face shields;
- Adjustment of entry requirements for fully vaccinated passengers;
- Adjustment of policy of mandatory distancing between passengers in airports;
- Acceptance of digital travel credentials such as IATA'S Travel Pass;
- Completion of Lima International Airport expansion project;
- Prevention of higher operating costs, overregulation or imposition of fees and charges that reduce competitiveness compared to regional operators;
- Prioritisation of vaccinating front line aviation workers.
Mr Cerda outlined the recommendations during meetings with various aviation industry members on a visit to the country, urging collaboration with the Government towards their implementation.
