22 March, 2018

Kuwait's Government is evaluating the possibility of constructing a new USD12 billion airport in northern Kuwait in order to meet anticipated traffic growth, according to directorate general of civil aviation Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah (Trade Arabia/Kuwait Times/KUNA, 21-Mar-2018). Expected to generate more than 15,000 jobs, the new airport would be able to handle a capacity of 25 million passengers p/a. The government would allocate land for the new airport, Sheikh Salman stated, which would then be constructed by "specialised international companies". He added: "Kuwait will witness a rapid growth in passenger and cargo movement in the coming 20 years, so we study such projects".
