Regional Express (Rex) to suspend Sydney-Canberra service

Regional Express (Rex) announced (24-May-2022) plans to suspend Sydney-Canberra service from 30-May-2022. The carrier first launched the service in Apr-2021, as part of an expansion of the airline's regional and domestic network. Rex deputy chairman John Sharp stated: "Unfortunately with the entrance of an additional operator, and the very high charges imposed by Sydney Airport from 01-Jun-2022, mean that the route is no longer viable… The resources will be diverted to other routes which will provide a better return".
