Virgin Australia announced (21-May-2020) plans to add new services and increase frequencies under a revised agreement with Australia's Government to connect essential travellers and critical freight. The changes will bring Virgin's underwritten schedule from 64 to 76 weekly frequencies. Key changes include:
- Adelaide-Perth: Additional three weekly frequencies, effective 22-May-2020;
- Brisbane-Melbourne: Twice daily;
- Brisbane-Mackay: Increased from five to six times weekly;
- Brisbane-Cairns: Increased from three to four times weekly;
- Increased capacity on Perth-Newman, Perth-Karratha and Perth-Port Hedland by upgrading the aircraft from a Fokker 100 to Boeing 737.
