VLM Airlines COO Carl Runge said the carrier intends to launch long haul services to the Far East in 2018 (Luchtvaartnieuws, 08-Feb-2018). "We are going to fly with two Airbus A330s", Mr Runge announced. As previously reported by CAPA, VLM Airlines plans to lease A330-200 equipment and is considering serving Shenzhen from either Brussels or Liege from as early as Apr-2018. "It is certain that we will not enter into competition on Beijing and Shanghai", Mr Runge confirmed, adding: "But there are still many Chinese cities that want a direct connection with Europe".
